| lainey3eb | 99 | 119 | -3 | 116 | 1.17 | - Sacramen-toeJam / Back in time - Thought this was a good song pick. One of my favorite Sofia memories ever was when she received Pooh for her 2nd birthday and was starstruck because she thought he was real and this song always reminds me of that time.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Back in time - Got the downvote only because we have to pick one and I personally would have picked another song from this album for this round (Man on the Moon).
- Sacramen-toeJam / Horn-y - I would have given this song 2 points if you picked the shorter version. Inspired choice tho!
- Sacramen-toeJam / Horn-y - I was about to pick a Capital Cities song too!
- Sacramen-toeJam / Next! - How this song relates to the theme, I don’t know, but *someone* must have known I love this song and will give it points.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Next! - On regular rotation on my personal playlist so had to give this two points even though I think I know who submitted this song…
- Sacramen-toeJam / You're So Vain - I thought about picking this song myself. Forgot that Incubus had so many hits!
- Sacramen-toeJam / You're So Vain - This song is my catnip and on point with the theme. Gets my two points for the round.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay - Ice Cube has a very different idea of a “chill” day than me. There were other songs that fit the theme better, but in college my playlist was all alt rock songs and this song so it gets a point.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay - I actually thought about selecting this song for the chill vibe, and now I regret that I didn’t. My loss, your gain.
- "Sacramen-toJam - Disk 2, hidden tracks - Halloween" / Tricks and Treats - New to me, but sounds good and fits the theme!
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / I have a dream! - I could be nit-picky about whether this song met the theme, but I’m feeling generous and this is a good song.
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / I have a dream! - I could be nit-picky about whether this song met the theme, but this song is new to me and is rad.
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Back to Basics: School of Rock 101 - Exactly what you expect from a guitar dog and thanks for not picking an obvious choice.
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Back to Basics: School of Rock 101 - I like acoustic guitar in songs best, and this song is one of the greatest examples.
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / I Love You, Man? - Always forget about this ode to CA, but it’s a good one.
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / I Love You, Man? - This is my kind of jam and the type of music I would normally listen to. Thanks for introducing me to this song!
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / But Wait—There’s Myrrh - I probably should have went with this song in the soundtrack instead of the one I picked!
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / But Wait—There’s Myrrh - This song gets played a lot in our house but I have to admit I haven’t watched the movie straight through. 🙈
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Guilty Pleasures - Mike?
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Guilty Pleasures - Jason? I think even Mandy Moore is embarrassed by this song, but I want (to listen to) the Candy!
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / Say what now? - I’ve listened to this song so many times, but never really thought about or listened the lyrics closely. I thought the lines were “where you go where the mice are found” and “will she stand alone?” Sounds like the song is about being suspicious of a cheating partner. He’s expecting their pet dogs to confirm his suspicions and maybe finally find the courage to leave.
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / Say what now? - A troubled mind imagining that he will someday have the power to punish all who have trespassed against him and the fallout that would result.
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / Let's go to the movies! - The only time I’ve fallen asleep watching a movie in theaters, probably in part of the soundtrack and God’s voice being so soothing.
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / Cover me! - Jason? One of my favorite cardigans songs and good cover. However, I suspect this will be overlooked because people don’t know the original song.
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / Cover me! - Jason? Just a good cover and a fun listen.
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Sacré Bleu! A day in the life of Michel(Gilmore Girls) - There was an episode of Gilmore Girls where Lorelei and Rory build Bjork for a snowman contest. So I love this as a pick!
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Sacré Bleu! A day in the life of Michel(Gilmore Girls) - I am a Shazamer of music I hear at hotels and restaurants and I would definitely Shazam this song.
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Beach Mismatch. Are your choices Kenenough! (Barbie) - Emo Ken?
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Country Cover (Beyonce) - When listening to this, I thought “yes this would actually make a good country song!” I did not know this was a cover of a country song, since this is the only version I know.
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Bachelor Nanny TV (Soldier of illusion, Documentary Now) - Helen? I submitted this song as a pick, but changed it later. Too bad for me because this is a very iconic tv theme song!
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Bachelor Nanny TV (Soldier of illusion, Documentary Now) - Jason? I used to sneak watching this show as a kid. I will forever associate this song with Al Bundy tucking his hand down his waistband.
- SacramentoJam Vol 7 - Honorary Sacramentan Edition / Words don't matter - I just found my new favorite Italian song. I’m not even mad that it’s better than my Italian pick.
- SacramentoJam Vol 7 - Honorary Sacramentan Edition / No vocals needed - I have to admit Metallica has the best concert openings with this song. Even casual fans like myself get pumped up every time!
- Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League / Throbbing Attraction (Character) - I see potential with this character…
- Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League / Grasping and Heaving (Story Goals) - I see we had similar ideas and I think this can lead to interesting song picks for the next rounds. Nice detail of picking a 1980s song from a British band.
- Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League / Bedroom Experiment (The Scientist's Tale) - I’ve listened to some of NIN’s instrumentals from their Ghosts albums recently and I like their sound (only really knew about Closer and Hurt before). Appreciate the outside-of-the-box song pick!
- Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League / Bondage and Duty (the Queen's Tale) - Did not know Frankie was from England. This was a fun pick!
- Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League / Drama, Actually... and Tease (Epilogue and Cliffhanger) - Good song and good plot twist!
- Movie Music Magic / Favorite original song from an animated movie - Such a good soundtrack!
- Movie Music Magic / Thriller - a song from a movie that gives you the chills - Can’t listen to this song without thinking of this movie
- Movie Music Magic / Favorite song from a non-animated movie musical - Almost unfair to pick a song by Bowie, but this rocks! The 80s sound and quirkiness just works. First time hearing this and it’s love on first listen for me.
- Change of Pace / Horn-y - Unpopular opinion, but Kenny G is like a third wheel that unnecessarily interrupts the sweet duet of Babyface and Mariah.
- Change of Pace / Better-than-Okay Boomer - Yep, glad to see Sting make the list!
- Change of Pace / Stop, Wait a Minute - I think this song will give the two wedding songs a run for their money
- Hey DJ! / The Big Ask - This is the most creative promposal
- Hey DJ! / $@#?! - My favorite Prince song
- Beginnings / Summer Starts - I was so close to picking this. This is my forever summer jam.
- Beginnings / Original - I picked this originally but changed my mind.🤦🏻♀️ In retrospect, a big mistake since both songs are so good.
- Into the Void / N.I.B. - Point for not picking the Police song. I also had a couple of "murder for love" song ideas...
- Into the Void / Fairies Wear Boots - Deserving of points
- The Singularity / Man vs Machine - This is the ultimate pump-me-up song. I recently learned the Van Halen brothers were born in Amsterdam and their mother is Indonesia. Their family immigrated to Pasadena, California, which is known as “Van Halen Country.”
- The Singularity / Man vs Machine - Finally paid attention to the lyrics while listening to the song. Can’t believe I thought it was about Panama the country 🤦🏻♀️
- The Singularity / Embiggened Language Model - Not normally a genre I’d listen to, but I thought this was a clever pick for the prompt
- The Singularity / John Henry - The first Whitney Houston song I heard that made me a fan
- The Singularity / John Henry - Very beautiful
- The Singularity / This is Fine - You would be in Pod #0000000000000001
- The Singularity / This is Fine - There are 1300 monthly listeners out there. You are not alone in your quirkiness.
- New beginnings / Rediscovered - I did a trivia game recently where I was one of the few people who knew that Danny Elfman composed the theme song to the Simpsons tv show. So I guess it’s plausible to have forgotten about him.
- New beginnings / Instrumental - This is really beautiful; the melodic, textural rock that I love from Metallica. Over 8 minutes long and I didn’t miss lyrics at all.

| Zach | 101 | 87 | -3 | 84 | 0.83 | - Sacramen-toeJam / Haven't seen you in a while - I don't like Sinatra that much, but I like giving points to songs that stand out as different or add to the variety of the playlist.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Haven't seen you in a while - I'm calling J on this one. Tell Mama you're taking home a bunch of points! I hate Ozzy's Spotify bio and his general attitude, but this is a damn good ballad.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Back in time - An inspired choice! I think Pooh got stuck in the hunny jar while footloose in the Danger Zone.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Back in time - Glad to be reminded of this song. Used to listen to REM a lot with my sisters.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Horn-y - I'm conflicted on this one. In terms of composition and production, it hasn't aged well in the TikTok era - except for around the verse "because my love for you..." *chefs kiss*. But that verse/prechorus is pretty awesome and I'd like more risk-taking Bowie-type songs in the league. Bowie definitely had sex listening to this song on repeat
- Sacramen-toeJam / Horn-y - My first thought was that this was an advertisement because I'm using the free tier. My second thought was no, it just sounds a lot like an ad. My third thought was oh, the Artist Bio actually says, "we got started by making ads". Aside from that, it's a neat song that happens to sometimes be used as an ad. This song, Kill This Love, and Close to Me have the best use of horns within a non-horn song. And it's a short song, which is a plus.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Next! - One of the songs I enjoy most this round, but not quite on-topic enough / personal favorite enough to get that 2nd point in a strong field.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Next! - This is my "I just can't get into this" song for the round, but I started to appreciate it a bit more after repeated listens.
- Sacramen-toeJam / You're So Vain - Totally forgot about this song. Good but pretty dated in that early 00's way. The best of the "You have a huge ego, and you suck" songs this round.
- Sacramen-toeJam / You're So Vain - This is more like an A Star is Born song than a You're So Vain song, so I put my downvote here.
- Sacramen-toeJam / I Want It All - A bit too long, but I respect it. I heard they have songs about wizards and fairies? And young Ozzy was actually hot instead of looking like a ghoul?
- Sacramen-toeJam / I Want It All - I liked this song more after repeated listens, and MJ singing about groupies is about as bizarre as Kanye in the last round talking about self-awareness.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay - (1/10 laziness) On a good day, Ice Cube:
* Got grub on
* Hit switch and made car's ass drop
* Played basketball (no triple double or fucking around today)
* Hit showers
* Ran the intersection
* Played dice and watched Yo! MTV Raps
* Pulled out the jammy and killed the punani
* .. more, that's only 2/3 of the song so far
I like the song and will probably put it in my song rotation, but can't give it more because Ice Cube is an extremely busy man who probably needs a personal assistant.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay - (?/10) Whoa
* Whoa
This was a tough no-points decision but I think the lyrics are kind of inconsistent with the theme, even if the music is very on point.
- Sacramen-toeJam / I Want to Love You - I love and hate 80s nonsense songs ("Safety Dance"). Why this one narrowly avoided a downvote: I like the Oompa-Loompa on the album cover art.
- Sacramen-toeJam / I Want to Love You - I will be surprised if this is not by Emma. I never resonated much with Heart, unfortunately. Another case of "I *should* like this, but...".
- "Sacramen-toJam - Disk 2, hidden tracks - Halloween" / Tricks and Treats - This is probably the only song that is actually appropriate for getting into the seasonal mood...
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / I have a dream! - This is a bit of a stretch for the theme but I'll allow it. Haven't listened to Dave Matthews in a long time.
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / I have a dream! - Yup, that's Bowie doing Bowie things... or Ziggy things....
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / It takes two - Another song and movie that I've never liked. I'm sure it will get a lot of points, though, so don't mind my grumbling.
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / It takes two - Before this the only song I knew was Straight Up. This was a fun time warp. Probably not something I would listen to a lot, but this was the most interesting new song.
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / Hungry for more - I only hear Stewie Griffin.
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / Hungry for more - Eh, a point for nostalgia, but I never particularly liked POTUSA (yeah, I know I'm a hypocrite for submitting them in that other round...)
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / Happy Birthday! - In other circumstances this would definitely have earned more points from me, but the field was extra good this time...
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / Happy Birthday! - Simpsons cameos are so weird. Also I think MJ was married to _Lisa_ Marie at the time?
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Back to Basics: School of Rock 101 - No stairway ✅
Amazing technicals and feeling that makes you want to play air guitar ✅
Doggie! ✅
This is my winner for following the spirit of the round. (Listened to this while with the other groomsmen at a wedding. Some of them suggested Kashmir as a stronger song but I'm not someone who knows Zeppelin that well.) I thought this was a fantastic choice.
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Back to Basics: School of Rock 101 - Probably the only song by them I'd accept, other than that one song about an actual guitar. Wanted to give a point because of how iconic this little jingle is, but I'm tight on points.
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / I Love You, Man? - A much more interesting pick than California Love or California Dreaming, and a unique genre that I would like to get more into.
The lyrics are what pushed me to give the +1 over the Metal (and Saturdays).
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / I Love You, Man? - I'm pretty sure this is an Elaine pick because it's hard to score.
On the one hand, it's somewhat catchy, unique, the music video has some cool dance footwork from the 80s and 90s. On the other hand, it's TOO nostalgia-baity & you've got to dig into the vague lyrics to find out that it's about "the times when you had control", apparently. Asking a lot of a new listener! I guess this is meant to be appreciated on multiple levels and eventually Twin Shadow could become a favorite of mine.
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / But Wait—There’s Myrrh - I made my family disappear
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / But Wait—There’s Myrrh - +soundtrack-y
+Xmas-y
+Nice tune, the Elf-Man rarely disappoints
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Guilty Pleasures - Jason
Guilty 4/5
Pleasure 3/10
Laaady
Whoa oh oh oh ohhhh
I hope this gets played on repeat as a romantic gesture in one of your households
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Guilty Pleasures - Helen
Guilty 5/5
Pleasure 5/10
This is the "better on repeat" winner this round, and also "guiltier on repeat". Adding to the guilt factor, its music video is pretty questionable, with product placement and showcasing a bunch of dudes on skateboards and one love interest who looks about 20 years older than Mandy
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / We're going HARD! - It's amazing that this song was released in between Love Me Do and Here Comes the Sun.
An unconventional pick, but I love it for this round. If you like this and also more contemporary rock vibes, check out "Cochise" by Audioslave, which has a similar wall of sound + primal scream vibe. I wanted to submit that but chose the more listener-friendly "Show Me How to Live" instead.
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / We're going HARD! - Another deep-ish cut,so I'm guessing this is Jason.
I like how Tool is basically Art Metal. They do a lot of things that sound unmusical but are actually really cool once you notice.
For instance, if you try to snap fingers or bob your head to most of the other songs on this list, you won't have any problem (every 2 or 4 beats). With Tool though, you generally cant unless you REALLY know what you're doing (I can't). It throws the listener off and gives the song an edgy feel.
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / Say what now? - These are the votes of disarray, for being similar to my own song(bush)
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / Say what now? - A point for a song I used to listen to a lot. I think my mentality and overall youth would have been much better if I hadn't been the kind of person who thought this was an amazing song. But it is an amazing song.
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / Let's go to the movies! - 🐧🐧🐧❄️🛝🐧
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / Cover me! - Jason
Sacramento band ✅
Cardigans ✅
This must be an offering to Mr Wiffles.
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / Cover me! - Emily
Wondering which one of you guys is a Tom Jones fan and also amazed that this works so well. Though I'm not sure casual people know the talking heads original... but this is definitely an improvement on it IMO.
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Sacré Bleu! A day in the life of Michel(Gilmore Girls) - Is Michel like, a weirdo?
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Sacré Bleu! A day in the life of Michel(Gilmore Girls) - I can't take the Weeknd seriously after what I've heard about his HBO show (19% on rotten tomatoes)
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Beach Mismatch. Are your choices Kenenough! (Barbie) - I don't really get it.
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Beach Mismatch. Are your choices Kenenough! (Barbie) - Not sure, but I think this falls under "somebody just wanted to submit a favorite song."
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Country Cover (Beyonce) - I like this version too. I haven't heard it in years, but it's still neat.
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Country Cover (Beyonce) - I think Boyz II men would do better with our group.
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Bachelor Nanny TV (Soldier of illusion, Documentary Now) - Mike
One of the first ones I thought of. I might actually like this better than the original.
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Bachelor Nanny TV (Soldier of illusion, Documentary Now) - Jason
Nice reference. I don't know if I like the song that much, but this was a series/song that seems so obvious in retrospect...
- SacramentoJam Vol 7 - Honorary Sacramentan Edition / Words don't matter - I'd like to give this 0.5 and Ti Amo 1.5, but instead I'll give them both 1.
- SacramentoJam Vol 7 - Honorary Sacramentan Edition / Party picks - Pitbull so catchy
- SacramentoJam Vol 7 - Honorary Sacramentan Edition / Party picks - The opposite of Dynamite, never seemed to get the crowd going as well as it should have, despite being so popular.
- SacramentoJam Vol 7 - Honorary Sacramentan Edition / No vocals needed - Unpopular opinion alert: i think i would like this one better if it was either more Ennio Morricone or more Metallica.
- SacramentoJam Vol 7 - Honorary Sacramentan Edition / No vocals needed - I've never really listened to Dark Side of the Moon, I'm not a progrock kind of guy. But I looked up the Wizard of Oz crossover version. Dorothy meets the scarecrow. Would have been better if this was synced up to the moment where the film goes from b&w to color.
- Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League / Play Submission (Setting) - hurts not to give a point to this song, but for the purposes of this round, gotta go with the others.
- Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League / Throbbing Attraction (Character) - I like the vibe on this the most out of all this round's playlist.
- Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League / Grasping and Heaving (Story Goals) - For this difficult prompt you guys rose to the occasion. Rooting for this one to tie with Footloose so that we can mix it with "guilty feet have got no rhythm".
- Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League / Bedroom Experiment (The Scientist's Tale) - Not in the mood for this kind of music, but I'm sure younger me would have loved it. A neat and unique vibe to pick for this story.
- Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League / Bondage and Duty (the Queen's Tale) - Is the Queen not an ambi-turner? I thought about submitting this song for the "Confusing/Mismatched Lyrics" round, but on learning more about the song I decided it's actually completely on point as a song about raunchy gay sex.
- Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League / Bad Habit (the Nun's Tale) - Sigh, I'll take the bait. *double upvote* I do like the setup here...
- Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League / Drama, Actually... and Tease (Epilogue and Cliffhanger) - OK, this was trippy.
- 2024, we hardly knew you / Best of 2024 - In my mind this was the year of "Espresso", no doubt. I like her "Juno" almost as much.
- 2024, we hardly knew you / Who was that again? - A point for uniqueness/risky song choice, and because I've never heard this before, and because getting 1984 MJ just to sing chorus is incredible.
- 2024, we hardly knew you / Where was that again? - Cheesy as hell 🔥
- 2024, we hardly knew you / Smaller is Better - Someone needs to sit down and have a chat with Nick about cultural appropriation
- Movie Music Magic / Favorite movie title song/theme song - Fun listen, even though I'm sure we'll all be tired of animated movie songs by the time this league is over
- Movie Music Magic / Favorite original song from an animated movie - Such a memorable tune
- Movie Music Magic / Thriller - a song from a movie that gives you the chills - I like the weird al parody video.
- Movie Music Magic / Favorite song from a non-animated movie musical - + may be my favorite even though every song this round is pretty great
+ unique and surprising movie pick, sharing Henson DNA with my own Muppets pick
- a 40 year old goblin king sings about slapping a kidnapped baby, and is in love with the baby's 16 year old sister
- Movie Music Magic / Favorite song used in a romantic moment in a movie - A little before my time, so I didn't know this Thomson Twins song... but a great comment and scene.
- Movie Music Magic / Favorite song sung by a character in a non animated movie - Glad you included the youtube link! I don't think I'll ever watch this movie, so I don't really get it. I'm not sure I'd get it even if I did watch the movie. Like the song though.
- Change of Pace / Good Riddance but also I Need You Back - One of my less-favorite STP singles, but that chorus is really quite good.
- Change of Pace / Old Enough! はじめてのおつかい - Not sure why, but never liked this song. Maybe it's because of all the gasping (I have misophonia), like he's doing thirst-quenching outtakes for a never-ending Sprite commercial.
- Change of Pace / Better-than-Okay Boomer - Nice one. Spotify listens don't always reflect how the album was played back in the day. It's interesting that Shape of My Heart is now (probably deservedly) the most well-known track on this album.
- Change of Pace / Stop, Wait a Minute - Nice but I think I do probably have to be drunk to really get into it.
- Hey DJ! / Guilty Pleasures - I probably would have voted for another specific Enrique song
- Hey DJ! / Tongue Twists - Maybe it says something about my terminally online habits that the novelty has worn off of 'cutesy girls doing metal things'. I would've liked to have a couple more points to spread the love around but our league admin is a real Scrooge about points
- Hey DJ! / The Big Ask - Love the song choice, but maybe too public/disruptive choice of venue. I dunno, do lunch ladies have time for shenanigans?
- Hey DJ! / Cover Me Badly - yeah, it's much much crappier than the original (which I will not comment on). You're gonna get so many points.
- Beginnings / Debut - I feel like it would've been better to pick a lesser-known song. Lots of good songs on this cd. Like, really great songs, actually...
- Beginnings / Summer Starts - Fine, I guess I like at least *some* of this kind of vibe music made by dudes just aimlessly noodling around in basements
- Beginnings / If At First You Don't Succeed - timeless
- Into the Void / Fairies Wear Boots - Despite the sacto connection, never got into this band. Apparently they are actually more successful with late GenZ than they were with millennials.
- Into the Void / Spiral Architect - My dog did not like this. Or there was a deliveryman. Either way lots of barking.
I appreciate the weirdness but maybe you cooked too hard for me this time
- Into the Void / Wishing Well - No that's too many wishes! You're supposed to get like one or two, not fill out a whole wishlist. But this self deprecating song grew on me. And the dude definitely sounds like he needs the help
- Into the Void / Sweet Leaf - Thought this was bout simping for camgirls or even SFW streamers until I confirmed the album year. Maybe they should require people to listen to this song instead of doing website age checks. Maynard will un-horny anybody.
- The Singularity / Man vs Machine - I wouldn't ever have thought of VH for this category but that is very synthy!
- The Singularity / Embiggened Language Model - A point for the the weird Owl City/screaming metal vocals combination
- The Singularity / John Henry - More appreciation for Whitney as I age...
- The Singularity / This is Fine - This song and comment has real "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream' vibes
- The Singularity / This is Fine - I didn't know this was going to be on the playlist when I submitted Never Let You Go, but I'm glad it was
- Music Through the Decades / The 2000s: Guilty Pleasure or Secret Genius? - Another Timbaland track. I looked that up, because it feels like something Destiny's Child would have written without any adult supervision. Guess he didn't find his signature sound until working with JT?
- Music Through the Decades / The 2020s: Soundtrack to the End (or Beginning) - Execs thought this song, not Bruno, would be the big hit. After a couple years of music league, I can say that foreign languages never do well, though. Anyway, actually a pretty neat song.
- New beginnings / Rediscovered - oh, elfman... um, different from his usual stuff? Yorick not hiding his identity as usual makes me nostalgic
- New beginnings / This isn't me - Not sure I'd classify this as country but it's a great tune, maybe my favorite on the list and a great fit for the round. And I'm a big fan of fallout 1/2/nv... Though I honestly usually turn the music off because it is quite an odd combination for an apocalyptic wasteland (I know that's the point but still...). If I had one more point I'd add it here.
|
| Yorick | 78 | 70 | -7 | 63 | 0.81 | - Sacramen-toeJam / Back in time - Sucks how they make us downvote something... but I never was much of a Pooh fan :( so here it goes.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Next! - Such an odd song, but nice memories from my teenage years.
- Sacramen-toeJam / You're So Vain - +2 for Incubus. -1 for wasting my time with that intro!
- Sacramen-toeJam / You're So Vain - More like a song about a failed relationship. Also never much cared for the song...
- Sacramen-toeJam / I Want It All - Can't deny their cultural impact, but man... that Ozzy is a bad singer!
- Sacramen-toeJam / I Want It All - Wonderful track! Even my kids had an MJ phase. We let them focus on the music and music videos... they can discover the other stuff when they're older.
- Sacramen-toeJam / Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay - Was somebody fishing for this minus point? You got it!
- Sacramen-toeJam / I Want to Love You - Never understood that echo-y filter on the vocals.
- Sacramen-toeJam / I Want to Love You - Such a catchy melody. I could've sworn I've heard it somewhere else. Probably a cover somewhere. What a power ballad!
- "Sacramen-toJam - Disk 2, hidden tracks - Halloween" / Tricks and Treats - Despite the title, this song wasn't very halloween to me. It started out groovy enough, but then just got too repetitive for me.
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / I have a dream! - Not a fan of this guys singing...
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / I have a dream! - I love the guy as an actor, but can't really get into his music :(
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / Hungry for more - I guess it works for the theme, but I wouldn't put this track on willingly.
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / Hungry for more - Finally a good song to listen to! And on point!
- SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition / Happy Birthday! - Yes, it's a bday song. But this was for Emma's bday, not Lisa!
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Back to Basics: School of Rock 101 - I must've been raised wrong. Never got into LZ.
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Back to Basics: School of Rock 101 - I like the Beatles well enough, but I don't typically listen to them for the guitar parts.
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / But Wait—There’s Myrrh - This was my pick as well, so 3 points! And minus one because I'm salty about missing out XD
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Guilty Pleasures - Elaine
- SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Guilty Pleasures - Zach
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / We're going HARD! - I alwasy think of the Beatles as old school and slow, especially since most of their well known songs are slow. That image needed some adjusting. Thanks for doing so!
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / We're going HARD! - Great riffs in this one! Had to steal a point from somewhere else to give here.

- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / Let's go to the movies! - I like Williams, but this movie was downright weird.
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / Cover me! - Sacramento band eh... I thought it was going to be a Cher cover. But then it wasn't, and I don't think I know the original to this one either. The minus had to go somewhere...
- SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams / Cover me! - Goading me with Cardigans again, eh? Deserves a point anyway!
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Sacré Bleu! A day in the life of Michel(Gilmore Girls) - She's always been super weird and fascinating. But I still enjoy her unique voice and accent.
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Beach Mismatch. Are your choices Kenenough! (Barbie) - She always has odd deeper lyrics which are interesting to listen to.
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Beach Mismatch. Are your choices Kenenough! (Barbie) - Waxing poetically about opening oneself up but not being seen or loved back. Song sounds good, lyrics a bit too floaty for me haha
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Country Cover (Beyonce) - Hah! The boys showing how covering country can be done in different genre. Well put!
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Country Cover (Beyonce) - Not my cup of tea.
- SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa / Bachelor Nanny TV (Soldier of illusion, Documentary Now) - Perhaps not entirely justified for Joe, but out of this playlist this was least interesting to listen to.
- SacramentoJam Vol 7 - Honorary Sacramentan Edition / Words don't matter - The voice... Unique yes, but I just didn't enjoy it.
- SacramentoJam Vol 7 - Honorary Sacramentan Edition / Words don't matter - Good one, but I prefer Sonne

- SacramentoJam Vol 7 - Honorary Sacramentan Edition / No vocals needed - My dad was into Pink Floyd but it never stuck with me...
- Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League / Bedroom Experiment (The Scientist's Tale) - Ground hog day! All he needs to do is learn how to play piano.

- Into the Void / Spiral Architect - This was definitely unexpected. Interesting choice!
- Into the Void / Neon Knights - Hot damn, I though I was listening to Jack Black for a couple hot seconds! But I definitely appreciate some metal core.
- The Singularity / Man vs Machine - Emma kept thinking they were calling her name. Then she thought she heard enema. When finally she got it, she had no idea why these guys were singing about Panama. It was quite a trip.
- The Singularity / Embiggened Language Model - So odd. Very very. Cool tho.
- The Singularity / John Henry - But could she level with Diva Plavalaguna?
- The Singularity / John Henry - At first I thought I was listening to the Avengers soundtrack XD Very nice version!
- The Singularity / This is Fine - Cheesy elevator music with screams of squishy humans in the background. Too real D:
- New beginnings / Rediscovered - This music is arguably utterly terrible. Good thing there are no minus points to give.
- New beginnings / This isn't me - Cute song.
- New beginnings / Instrumental - I like how this song showcases so many different styles of Metallica. The fast trash metal, the slow ballads, the melodic solos. I also enjoyed how the length pissed off Elena. Teens and their short attention spans haha

| Brandon Nohara | 33 | 26 | 0 | 26 | 0.79 | - Change of Pace / Good Riddance but also I Need You Back - I have a soft spot for the music video with Sarah Michelle Gellar
- Change of Pace / Old Enough! はじめてのおつかい - Won me over after I read about the wider range of "boy bands" beyond Backstreet Boys and NSYNC
- Change of Pace / Not Horny Enough - Great song, but it felt tricky to fit "horny vibrations" into the rhythm

- Hey DJ! / Guilty Pleasures - Do you feel guilty about liking Pitbull?
- Hey DJ! / Tongue Twists - Props on the brave pick
- Hey DJ! / $@#?! - I heard the Foo Fighters cover, but never realized Prince did the original
- Hey DJ! / Cover Me Badly - I was thinking of playing this too
In high school, I remember liking this. Fred Durst's yelling and grunting have not aged well, though
- Beginnings / Beginnings - One of the first songs I learned to play on guitar. Aside from the beginner-friendly chords, I didn't catch the beginnings theme, though
- Beginnings / Summer Starts - Great song with summer vibes, but I felt it was a looser fit with the theme compared to most of the others on this playlist

- The Singularity / Embiggened Language Model - New to me
- The Singularity / John Henry - Interesting pick, though I still prefer the Led Zeppelin version
- The Singularity / This is Fine - The 16-bit screaming sounds made me smile
- The Singularity / This is Fine - I was actually a big fan of this song before it became a meme
- The Singularity / Irreplaceable - I hesitated to give this an upvote since it was played in a previous league
- The Singularity / Irreplaceable - For some reason, I appreciate this more now
- Music Through the Decades / The 2010s: Internet Aesthetics - Still a classic party anthem. This was played in a previous league, which I know not everybody was in, but I decided to shift my vote elsewhere
- Music Through the Decades / The 2020s: Soundtrack to the End (or Beginning) - Great song from a great movie, but as a non-Spanish speaker I hesitated to give a point here
- Music Through the Decades / The Lost Decade - Won me over after a few listens. Wow, Michael McDonald still sounds the same
- New beginnings / This isn't me - Fits the Fallout vibe, but I couldn't get into the song itself
- New beginnings / Instrumental - This song won the instrumental round in my high school friends' league. I probably would have given +3 if I hadn't heard it recently
