My mainstream pick this round. Hopefully hits a lot of people's sweet spot: Glam rock, Eurovision, and they also did that cover of Frankie Valli's Beggin'...

I was going to pick a more highbrow song but then I found this and it’s been stuck in my head for days so here it is. Still as catchy and controversial as it was 20-some years ago…

Such a classic banger! No idea what he's saying but the Knight Rider theme mixed with whatever this is is just great. I never tire of hearing it haha

I'm not crying, you're crying! Anyway, it's from a K-Drama I've never seen, and this version is from a game show.

As the theme song for the video game Civilization IV, this is aimed at a global audience who won't understand Swahili. But even if you didn't know that the words are the christian Lord's Prayer, I think the song gets its spirituality across. For me, the subtext of the song is that even though we have vastly different traditions and values, every culture and every human is driven to seek sustenance and then higher needs. Humanity strives, struggles, and transcends.

We were talking about powerful female vocalists and this always stuck with me. This 1993 keyboard demo like track is entirely vindicated by that wonderful voice and melody... So great. Never looked up the translation.

I loved this song from an episode of the Young Pope.

Despite not understanding what it's about, I love this cheerful and energy-boosting song! I have a feeling that the lyrics are just random 😂

This is the soundtrack of the first Japanese drama series I watched. It's such a beautiful, sweet and relaxing song. I've never tried to translate the lyrics. I hope they're as nice as the song sounds.
I originally picked Bocelli’s “Con Te Partiro” but decided to go with a personal favorite instead (sounds like an Italian Bryan Adams song?). I heard this for the first time sung by the flawed but charismatic character Berlin (Pedro Alonso) on the Netflix show La Casa De Papel/Money Heist and instantly loved it.
A foreign metal classic
