I originally choose Billionaire by Bruno and travie, but later realized it wasn't about greed (they were gonna do good stuff with the money) then I found Society which I instantly liked. I have a soft spot for country. So full disclosure, I only found this song later, it's new for me!

Media consumption, consumerism, and by extension, the concept of greed! A bit beyond the scope of personal greed - more RATM commentary. I thought it was interesting that this studio-produced song was released ONLY on the Godzilla Original Motion Picture soundtrack - more RATM artistic expression.

Best new wave song about power. The lyric “Turn your back on Mother Nature” is very prescient.

I think it fits the theme pretty well! My second choice from gaga would be money honey. But I think this fits more on several points.

Sadly, I don't think they ever came out with the 9 to 5 video game mentioned in fresh off the boat.

A throwback to the musicals on vhs that I grew up with

This is Lin Manuel Miranda's world, and we're just living in it. Obviously you could submit My Shot (or Lose Yourself) here and it would be great, and that was my first thought, but even though My Shot is more relevant, Satisfied is the more interesting narrative and genre. Alexander is free to pursue his ambition but Angelica is not. They both have to marry for wealth and social status, but Angelica is cautious of Alexander's motives.

Good ol' Linkin Park. Fits the theme, tho a little bit off the beaten path here. I hope you all enjoyed this one!

I like the minimalist, almost a capella feeling to this song. Definitely an intentional aesthetic choice to emphasize the song's meaning. I was going to pick something a bit more obscure, but this song was popular for good reason...

    The lyrics speak for themselves.

  14. Everything NowArcade FireSubmitted by etnlnight

Classic Arcade Fire - is it hypocritical that they've become one the largest, wealthiest "indie" bands? "Everything Now" hits the nail on the head for the overarching concept of greed and material gain. A reflection of the critical error of thought that permeates our modern times...
