  1. Paranoid Android - RemasteredRadioheadSubmitted by Zach
    #18 pointsFirst-time

Radiohead decided they wanted to be artists instead of musicians and this was the turning point.

  2. I Have NothingWhitney HoustonSubmitted by Jason

You can’t deny Whitney’s talent and amazing vocal range.

  3. The Diva DanceÉric Serra, Inva MulaSubmitted by Yorick

While the vocals were sung by an actual blue alien, they were long believed impossible for mere humans due to the wide vocal range and rapid changes. There are some respectable attempts to be found on YouTube, but no one beats Diva Plavalaguna. I've spared you the full aria that precedes this iconic bit. You're welcome!

This is the song Giorgio is talking about. This song came out in 1977 and it was the sound of the future.

    Still alive, still alive

  6. Inside the Winter StormDragonForceSubmitted by Yorick
    T44 pointsFirst-time

In the previous league I stated there were better Dragonforce songs than the usual "Through the fire and flames", and this seems like a great opportunity to use one! Dragonforce has been accused of speeding up their songs... that it was impossible to play that fast. They've proven everyone wrong live and on stage ever since!

Some of the fastest rapping out there. Not the fastest, but it’s up there.

And I said, "Wait a second, I know the synthesizer Why don't I use the synthesizer which is the sound of the future?" And I didn't have any idea what to do But I knew I needed a click, so we put a click on the 24-track Which then was synced to the Moog Modular I knew that could be a sound of the future But I didn't realize how much the impact would be My name is Giovanni Giorgio But everybody calls me Giorgio * * * * Once you free your mind about a concept of Harmony and of music being "correct" You can do whatever you want So, nobody told me what to do And there was no preconception of what to do

Selected for the lyrics and the 17-second long scream.

This song translates epically into a symphony.

Holds a Guinness World Record for longest held vocal note. It's the long ending note starting around 3:26. I don't know why that bit of music trivia stuck in my head, but it seemed like a fit for this round

  15. **no need to give this song points, this is a bonus song** Do engines get rewarded for their steam? Before you complain this is too on the nose, this is the song that inspired this round and indirectly the whole league. The round title 'John Henry' is too good though; I didn't want to rename this round. so I gave myself a third song slot to share this with you. The artistic aspect of Cash playing a show for prisoners could also fit the 'limit pushing' theme
