  • Wipe OutThe Surfaris - Instrumental - #4 - 10 points - I always liked this on road trips growing up. The road trips were usually down California's Central Valley, so there were no waves. But this song almost made me think I was on the coast, as long as I could block out the smell of cow manure.
  • Suga SugaBaby Bash, Frankie J - This isn't me - #10 - 5 points - I'm not generally a big r&b fan but this one speaks to me personally.
  • TiK ToKKesha - Rediscovered - #6 - 6 points - I heard some of Kesha's new songs it reminded me of how much I liked Tik Tok.

  • SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Back to Basics: School of Rock 101 - My favorite of the stones songs so far. Definitely a great rock groove, but it was a strong crop of songs this time.
  • SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Back to Basics: School of Rock 101 - This one kind of hurts to not give points to, considering how many times I've headbanged to this in the past... But I'm also not that kid any more. I think as cool as the riff is, they probably didn't really put that much craft into it, compared to say, Zep's jimmy page did. Actually the thing that most struck me about listening to this song afresh was how important Dave Grohl on drums is to their sound.
  • SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / I Love You, Man? - Not to rubber anyone the wrong way, but this song doesn't fit the bill. I do have fondness for Sesame Street and this song, but I don't think this is the right direction for the league. (not sure why I liked the cookie song, maybe because I like cookies and also submitted a cookie song) 50/50 on whether this is a serious play for points or a commentary that our musical taste isn't all it's quacked up to be.
  • SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / I Love You, Man? - Saving my points for the more rare/new songs this round. Similar to Africa, I gotta give points to the creative picks. Surprisingly political song. Reading about the Neil Young "feud" was interesting. I think the songs interpretation is purposefully ambiguous ("In Birmingham they love the governor, now we all did what we could do.") so both the good ol' boys and the liberals could claim the song. Apparently the Confederate flag they flew at concerts was also the label's business decision.
  • SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / But Wait—There’s Myrrh - Gotta vote for this one having just spent a week on Oahu. But also I like Bing's singing better than Dean's and Burl's, and the bendy guitar notes add a lot of Island character to the song.
  • SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / But Wait—There’s Myrrh - That lonely old man is really just a creepy old man!
  • SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Guilty Pleasures - Mike Guilty: 3/5 Pleasure: 7/10 Extra: + I feel like the person who chose this song is probably referencing the fact that if you play the Dixie Chicks in public in some places ("try that in a small town"), you might get chased out. Great tune -amazing to finally hear this song which was part of their fall from the top, and I always thought it a shame they got cancelled for an objectively correct, compassionate, reasonable opinion. But that's people for ya.
  • SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust / Guilty Pleasures - Mike Guilty 4/5 Pleasure 6/10 Bonus + On reflection, I'm giving this one an extra point. The closer you get to pure punk - and this is the closest we've gotten so far - the harder it is to play it publicly (or submit to music league!), due to both musical quality and punk anti establishment sentiment. The Dropkick Murphys cleverly solved the "punk singers sound awful" problem by secretly having the melody carried by bagpipes.
