I was also worried it might have been AI with an artist name like that. Turns out it's a music producer who just loves making music which he then sells to whomever for they're own projects. Wildly different corner of the musical scene, but glad it wasn't AI!
  • Forget-Me-NotLaufey - This isn't me - #4 - 11 points - Elena has introduced us to Laufey a while ago, even going to a concert together. I listened to the latest album to prepare for this concert and while most is nice jazz and bossa nova type stuff, this one stuck out from the very first listen. There's no beat, it's slow but the only way I can describe it's is that it is enchanting. It's in my favorite list now and sticks out like a sore thumb but I never skip it. So beautiful.
  • Waste Your YouthScooter - Rediscovered - #3 - 11 points - I grew up with these guys and recently discovered they are still making music! They barely changed and are still going strong with big beats and zany lyrics. They are responsible for such classic lyrics as "Respect to the man in the ice cream van!" and "How much is the fish?". This track came out in 2024 and made me laugh with "When nothing goes right, go left!" Such simple wisdoms.

  • MiserlouDick Dale & His Del-Tones - Short and Sweet (or not) - #1 - 10 points - Oooh, I've been looking for an excuse to submit this one and this round works! Forget Pulp Fiction, this track rocks just fine in its own!
  • Super Disco Breakin' - Remastered 2009Beastie Boys - Short and Sweet (or not) - #7 - 3 points - This could've fit in the last round as well. One of my first albums and I can still sing most of this song by heart. Favorite lyric: "When I'm in Holland, I eat the pannenkoeken!" (the pronunciation is quite off, but I always appreciated the effort)
  • ChicagoMichael Jackson - Kids songs - #9 - 0 points - Posthumously released in 2014. Johan has always been into MJ and he's been listening to this one a lot recently and suggested it. I actually hadn't heard the XSCAPE album yet, so perhaps this is a new MJ for some of you as well!
  • Rainbow To The StarsDune - Kids songs - #2 - 8 points - One of the few albums I bought with the little allowance I had at 10 years old. I actually still listen to this album to this day! Another one was Aqua with hits such as Barbie Girl and Dr. Jones, but those haven't aged as well for me, hah!
  • I'm On A BoatThe Lonely Island, T-Pain - Excellently Explicit - #1 - 15 points - The Lonely Island made songs regularly for SNL. First objective: be funny and entertaining. But even though they used over the top rap tropes and explicit lyrics to crank up the funny, they sometimes struck gold as well. This song is actually good. Catchy, lyrically strong (if you appreciate the humor) and finally a round where the excessivlu explicit lyrics are the assignment. I really like this song!
  • Fuck EverythingDan Bull - Excellently Explicit - #3 - 9 points - Not new discovery for some of you, but it's the best one I got. I love how some stuff has got you thinking how offensive it is, the next has you fervently agreeing and then you hear one that reminds you it's really just a joke song. Fuck convoluted train time tables! Oh yes, and since I submitted this once before: fuck repetition and fuck repetition!
  • #1 Radio $inglePsychostick - Out of the ordinary - #3 - 6 points - Typically known for their comedic metal and the odd satirical cover. The boys sat down to write an honest pop song capable of reaching the #1 spot! We'll blame the "establishment" for not actually reaching the top.
  • In BetweenLinkin Park - Out of the ordinary - #5 - 4 points - You heard him rap in the previous round, something Mike Shinoda typically does for his main gig as well among the the ripping Linkin Park guitars we're used to. But this song, this album, was a huge change. Some calmer, reflective songs and this peculiar song with Mike singing solo. Like it or not, it's definitely not something you'd expect from LP or MS!

In all seriousness, I know K-pop is engineered through and through, but there is originality in the beats and hamonies in this song that AI wouldn't be able to come up with at random.
  • Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)Emily Browning - This is Fine - #2 - 5 points - Such a good version. It starts nice and slow but builds up like a noisy... machine? Sweet dreams!
  • You Asked for ItEmmure - This is Fine - #5 - 1 points - A joke song made by the band because fans asked for. Now, get back to work!
  • Inside the Winter StormDragonForce - John Henry - #4 - 4 points - In the previous league I stated there were better Dragonforce songs than the usual "Through the fire and flames", and this seems like a great opportunity to use one! Dragonforce has been accused of speeding up their songs... that it was impossible to play that fast. They've proven everyone wrong live and on stage ever since!
  • The Diva DanceÉric Serra, Inva Mula - John Henry - #3 - 5 points - While the vocals were sung by an actual blue alien, they were long believed impossible for mere humans due to the wide vocal range and rapid changes. There are some respectable attempts to be found on YouTube, but no one beats Diva Plavalaguna. I've spared you the full aria that precedes this iconic bit. You're welcome!

This song is paired with the Prelude elsewhere in this playlist, which was made 10 years after this one. It's a great contrast between orchestral and electronic music. BY THE SAME ARTIST!
  • Alchemist PreludeSavant - Man vs Machine - #5 - 3 points - A pairing of songs! The original Alchemist (also in this playlist) was reimagined 10 years after its original release into this. While I'm not convinced it's a real orchestra, the contrast between orchestral and electronic music is amazing. If you want to give points and can't decide, give 'em to the original, kthnx!

I wonder what came first; the music or the title? I'm not doing this one for the points so I'll hide my comment this time. I hope someone liked it.
  • Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me - From 'Batman Forever'U2 - N.I.B. - #9 - 4 points - The villain part relates to this being on the Batman Forever soundtrack and I always associated it with Harvey Two Face. The true meaning of the song about being a rock star jives much more with the rest of the prompt.

This came across my Spotify at random and I still listen to it today solely based on its own merit. Not much to find on this song or the artists, other than that it was used in a trailer at some point in 2020.
