New beginnings

  • DesideroFranz Gordon, Hanna Ekström, Anna Dager - Instrumental - #5 - 9 points - Desidero translates to ‘I long for,’ and this track lives up to its name with every note. It starts as a quiet piano and cello murmur, but once the violin enters, the yearning becomes palpable. It’s the equivalent of rain on a windowpane and a long walk home—a masterclass in restraint that proves you don't need a full orchestra to tell a story this hauntingly beautiful.
  • ScreamAvenged Sevenfold - This isn't me - #8 - 7 points - Not one of their most popular (according to number of listens/plays on Spotify), but this song always gets stuck in my head and I don't know why.
  • AngelLibera, Robert Prizeman - Rediscovered - #4 - 10 points - I discovered them a long, long time ago (2004/5) via one of their music video on some random non-music tv channel. I was obsessed. Then I didn't listen to them for a long time....then a few months ago I thought about them again. I'm sharing this "new" song that I really like. It's not really new (based on original release 2017), but to me it is! See, that's how long I haven't listened to them. So this is my pick for this round...I know boy's choir is not everyone's cup of tea, but I still think the music and singing is beautiful!

Fun with Friends Near and Far!

  • Take the JourneyHOYO-MiX, Anthony Lynch, 李敬浩 - Short and Sweet (or not) - #7 - 3 points - I actually never played the game, but I discovered this one day letting Spotify play similar songs . I thought it was maybe from The Witcher, but no. Anyway, since then, I added it to my playlist.
  • Outlander - The Skye Boat Song (Castle Leoch Version) [feat. Raya Yarbrough]Bear McCreary, Raya Yarbrough - Short and Sweet (or not) - #6 - 4 points - I really enjoy this song. I stopped after season 2 though. This is the full song of the show's theme, but it's still under 2:30. ;)
  • Eternal FlameThe Bangles, Susanna Hoffs - Kids songs - #4 - 6 points - This was one of my favorite songs as a child. Couldn't get enough of it, but didn't have Spotify nor had we money for cable tv (to have MTV) back then, so had to wait for it to play on the radio!
  • Lover GirlLaufey - Kids songs - #5 - 5 points - This is my daughter's favorite song from her favorite artist. I'm surprised about her music taste. She's got good taste.
  • Cinderella SnappedJax - Excellently Explicit - #8 - 2 points - I quite like Jax, although she's quite standard and has a simple formula. She had a few E songs, but I chose this one for the message, lol. By the way, she has a song called, "Barbara, your husband is gay."
  • PedestalAiko - Excellently Explicit - #6 - 4 points - Not sure why I like this song, but I just do. I'm a really simple person I guess.
  • JUMPBLACKPINK - Out of the ordinary - #6 - 3 points - They don't usually do hardstyle....
  • BethKISS - Out of the ordinary - #5 - 4 points - A soft side of KISS.
  • Escape (The Pina Colada Song)Rupert Holmes - Storytime! - #6 - 4 points - I really love virgin Pina coladas, but not so much walking in the rain. Anyway, I always enjoyed the ironic "twist" in this song, but I think maybe I just like Pina coladas more since cheating is bad!
  • Sk8er BoiAvril Lavigne - Storytime! - #3 - 7 points - I always enjoyed the story of this song and wondered, "is this based on herself?" So I googled and it's fictional but based on her own high school experiences and observations. Either way, love the "don't judge a book by its cover" message.

Lady Chatterwhistle's Gossip-Drama League

  • zombieland (feat. HARDY)Jax, HARDY - Drama, Actually... and Tease (Epilogue and Cliffhanger) - #1 - 12 points - Because it's a zombie apocalypse! Every story becomes better with zombies (last of us, pride and prejudice and zombies, iZombie, etc). What would our threesome do in this zombie apocalypse? Or perhaps one of them got turned....
  • Like a PrayerMadonna - Bad Habit (the Nun's Tale) - #3 - 8 points - Life is a mystery, our nun may be schizophrenic . She is hearing voices. Oh god she think she's falling...in love with an assassin queen!
  • What Is Love - 7" MixHaddaway - Bondage and Duty (the Queen's Tale) - #7 - 5 points - I wanted to find something rock/metal for the assassin queen. But I felt like she would be questioning this.
  • TryTyler Ward - Bedroom Experiment (The Scientist's Tale) - #1 - 11 points - I chose this version since it's the Scientist's theme, so a guy singing. I thought since he's stuck in that time loop thing, the repetition of the words and echos and stuff represents that. And it's a song about love and relationships, and there's also a feeling of regret and hope, all things I imagine the Scientist Martin would feel for his storyline.
  • GODSLeague of Legends, NewJeans - Grasping and Heaving (Story Goals) - #4 - 7 points - Evangeline has been sent back in time to correct the time travel mess by any means, which also includes killing the Scientist who was "playing God" with his time machine. "Bad girl woke up and chose violence" describes our killer queen, the biggest regret (and first love) the scientist had went back in time to try to "fix". But it turns out the killer queen may also be a time traveller...her mission a secret: kill or protect? But Evangeline ends up falling in love with the the Scientist.
  • The ScientistColdplay - Throbbing Attraction (Character) - #1 - 8 points - A scientist...with many regrets, accidentally invents a time machine. He goes back to his high school years trying to make his life better and do away with regrets...but this results in him being trapped in a time loop paradox....can someone save him?
  • Up Where We BelongJoe Cocker, Jennifer Warnes - Play Submission (Setting) - #5 - 2 points - Setting: Up where we belong...where the eagles cry, on a mountain high! (think Fargo?) But we can go even higher... "From the world we know" (space drama?)

SacramentoJam Vol 7 - Honorary Sacramentan Edition

  • Canon RockJerryC - No vocals needed - #9 - 0 points - I thought, why not something a little different.... Oldie but goodie.
  • River Flows In YouYiruma - No vocals needed - #3 - 6 points - Not my original submission... But i didn't want to risk getting minus points just for submitting a song that had 30 seconds of choir singing "Aaahhhhh", so Yiruma instead!
  • 月亮代表我的心Teresa Teng - Childhood nostalgia - #4 - 5 points - My parents listened a lot to Teresa Teng, Paula Tsui, and Anita Mui. But since the criteria included "and they became your songs", Teresa Teng's songs be something I liked as well.
  • 男兒當自強George Lam - Childhood nostalgia - #6 - 3 points - Wong Fei Hong theme... I didn't want to post another song similar to Teresa Teng, so I chose this. I don't know if my parents listened to this a lot, but my dad loves watching movies and this was of course from Once Upon a time in China movie and I really enjoy this song so much when we watched it. :)
  • BaladaGusttavo Lima - Party picks - #9 - 2 points - You want dance music, gotta look to the spaniards!
  • I'm Good (Blue)David Guetta, Bebe Rexha - Party picks - #7 - 4 points - Because *someone* (dagger stares into the void) took I gotta feeling, I'll choose something Guetta then....
  • Back In TimeLyn, Jeon Hayeoung - Words don't matter - #4 - 4 points - I'm not crying, you're crying! Anyway, it's from a K-Drama I've never seen, and this version is from a game show.
  • CROWUPIKO - Words don't matter - #3 - 5 points - I stumbled upon this song one day. I love her strong voice.

SacramentoJam Vol 6 - Whoa

SacramentoJam Volume 5 - Mr. Wiffles' Catnip Jams

SacramentoJam Volume 4 -Alicorn Stardust

SacramentoJam Disk 3 - Hamster Edition

  • Birthday SongDon McLean - Happy Birthday! - #3 - 8 points - The last line makes me smirk.
  • My Best Days Are Ahead Of MeDanny Gokey - Happy Birthday! - #6 - 5 points - I secretly like country! And it's got nice lyrics. :)
  • Escape (The Pina Colada Song)Rupert Holmes - Hungry for more - #7 - 5 points - I love the story of this song, and I looove (virgin) Pina coladas too!
  • Here is a HeartJenny Owen Youngs - Hungry for more - #7 - 5 points - One day, years ago, I randomly stumbled upon this song and loved it ever since. She's cookin' up her heart!
  • The Next Time I Fall (with Amy Grant)Peter Cetera, Amy Grant - It takes two - #4 - 6 points - I was gonna submit two other songs, but decided to change my choice again to this because I can't freaking get it out of my head. So it's a sign that I need to submit this. Let's see if it gets stuck in your head too... Ooooh ooh oooOohh~
  • Endless LoveLionel Richie, Diana Ross - It takes two - #3 - 7 points - When I think "Love Song Duets" , this is the first song I think of. And of course it must be the original with none other than Diana Ross!
  • Enter SandmanMetallica - I have a dream! - #3 - 8 points - So I got the Dream theme idea because Yorick has been reading Sandman comics by Niel Gaiman. This is for you babe.
  • Dream A Little Dream Of MeThe Mamas & The Papas - I have a dream! - #8 - 3 points - So I originally submitted These Dreams by Heart for Justin and knowing I would get no points from Zach, lol. But since Justin's not playing, I'm changing to this lovely classic.

Sacramen-toeJam

  • Off My FaceJustin Bieber - I Want to Love You - #9 - 1 points - Sorry, I know it's Bieber, but I loooove this song and it fits the theme sooooo well! Really, I hope you gave it a good listen and notice how well it fits the theme and how good Bieber is as a singer.
  • Every Breath You TakeThe Police - I Want to Love You - #2 - 11 points - I hate the song (creepy stalker vibes) but it's good music. So yea, stalker vibes = infatuation.
  • MargaritavilleJimmy Buffett - Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay - #1 - 9 points - I'll have the alcohol-free Margarita :)
  • Put Your Records OnCorinne Bailey Rae - Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay - #3 - 7 points - So chill, relaxed, let your hair down!
  • SocietyEddie Vedder - I Want It All - #1 - 11 points - I originally choose Billionaire by Bruno and travie, but later realized it wasn't about greed (they were gonna do good stuff with the money) then I found Society which I instantly liked. I have a soft spot for country. So full disclosure, I only found this song later, it's new for me!
  • The FameLady Gaga - I Want It All - #4 - 6 points - I think it fits the theme pretty well! My second choice from gaga would be money honey. But I think this fits more on several points.
  • Chop Suey!System Of A Down - You're So Vain - #6 - 4 points - Self-righteous suicideeeee, that is so dang vain! First place here I come....
  • You're WelcomeDwayne Johnson - You're So Vain - #1 - 15 points - What can I say but say you're welcome, for choosing this awesome song, because Dwayne Johnson can sing! (if it worked for Keanu....)

  • Sacramen-toeJam / You're So Vain - Bwahaha, whoever posted Ryan Gosling, I hope you gave my Dwayne Johnson a point back!
  • Sacramen-toeJam / You're So Vain - Just gonna say it now: I'm not giving points for any song that matches the round title... Because that's too easy! But you're lucky you won't get my down vote since Kanye deserves it more. Thank Kanye, Carly.
  • Sacramen-toeJam / I Want It All - Dolly is actually really smart. I love the line, "they use your mind / and you never give you credit" and "youre just another step on the boss-man's ladder". And I see a glimmer of how it fits the theme.
  • Sacramen-toeJam / I Want It All - OK, this guy's desires to be rich and what he'd do if he was, gotcha. I would have chosen Billionaire instead, but maybe I had blocked you from choosing it? I'm sorry if I did! But I cannot sit and listen to this "song", but why does the bum didi sound familiar?
  • Sacramen-toeJam / Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay - Meh. More like... Boring.... Sorry, don't know why but I have no patience for this song, tho I do like some of CCR's music.
  • Sacramen-toeJam / Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay - Lol.......its not a great song but I love how it fits the theme. But I think he's more high than lazy. But I guess he's also relaxed and chill, so extra point for ya, heehee.
  • Sacramen-toeJam / I Want to Love You - Really weird song. But I get the feeling you wanted a - 1. If not, Chu inception'd me to do it.
  • Sacramen-toeJam / I Want to Love You - No.

  • Sacramen-toeJam / You're So Vain - I can smell what The Rock's cooking, and it's Kahlua pork with a side of upvotes. This was what I wanted to pick! I thought about replacing it with Gaston (Beauty and the Beast), but this is just too good to compete with. It's a very LMMiranda song.
  • Sacramen-toeJam / You're So Vain - I'm conflicted, because this is a great song with an interesting message that I personally interpret as humble and empathetic. But interpretations are subjective, so giving it the benefit of the doubt.
  • Sacramen-toeJam / I Want It All - Funny that this came right after Material Girl in the playlist, and the first line is a reference to it. I think in this first album they weren't sure about how to brand her. The song itself didn't do much for me tho
  • Sacramen-toeJam / I Want It All - I'm glad I heard this. Eddies vocals are way clearer than in Pearl Jam, and his lyrics are slightly more comprehensible! If you take away Eddies singing, this is just your average guitar bro song, but he really elevated it. Nice find!
  • Sacramen-toeJam / Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay - (8/10 laziness) Things girl does with her records on: * Tells favorite song * Lets hair down * Sips tea This was my 2nd favorite of the songs that played on repeat in the store when I was working retail (#1 was Nelly Furtado - Say It Right).
  • Sacramen-toeJam / Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay - Margaritaville is a state of mind, not a place, right? Deep. I liked this song more and more after listening on repeat - from a 1-pointer to a 3-pointer! (6/10 laziness) Things to do in Margaritaville * Nibble spongecake * Strum six-string * Search for salt shaker * Get Mexican cutie tattoo * Waste away * Blow out flip-flop * ...more
  • Sacramen-toeJam / I Want to Love You - Famously mismatched tone between music and lyrics! Unfortunately I ran out of points to give.
  • Sacramen-toeJam / I Want to Love You - I wasn't sure where to put my -1, but Beliebers are used to being downvoted, so I have no problems putting my downvote here. I don't really get what his selling point is compared to, say, Shawn Mendes, now that Bieber's old. I bet he still is a good performer live and on video, but I didn't watch the video for this. Did Off My Face catch on as slang, I wonder?
