Music Through the Decades

  • JuiceLizzo - The Lost Decade - #4 - 6 points - I don’t listen to new music too much. But when I heard Lizzo I thought, “ok. Now that there? That’s real fresh man. I can dig it Daddy-O. Gimme some more of that new stuff.”
  • you look like you love me (feat. Riley Green)Ella Langley, Riley Green - Time Traveler's Choice - #3 - 9 points - Loretta or Willie woulda built up the relationship more slowly. But what we got right here is a 2020’s style thirst trap of a song, masqueradin’ as a classic. By god, it’s parched. Mighty Despicable I tell ya. Downright wanton i reckon. Lewd n lascivious!! Well, that’s just ma 2 cents. Y’all enjoy now ya hear.
  • Walk My WalkBreaking Rust - The 2020s: Soundtrack to the End (or Beginning) - #7 - 5 points - I have never listened to this very popular song. I read about it. Apparently, no humans made this song. That’s 2025 fer ya. Maybe it’s cool, maybe it’s not, but it’s “got no soul.”
  • MemoriesMaroon 5 - The 2010s: Internet Aesthetics - #6 - 4 points
  • Coma GirlJoe Strummer, The Mescaleros - The 2000s: Guilty Pleasure or Secret Genius? - #8 - 1 points - I dunno. It wasn’t played enough to be hated, but it was on a good album.
  • Drawing Flies - Remastered 2016Soundgarden - The 1990s: The Basement Tapes - #3 - 7 points - One day i came home from middle school and my brother was listening to “badmotorfinger” in the dark on a perfectly sunny day. I had started playing guitar, was about to stop playing football, and i could see that soundgarden was the future of music. Drawing flies is a deep cut on an album that i listened to a million times on my paper route. Still playing guitar thinking about the 90’s.

Into the Void

Beginnings

  • When Doves CryPrince - If At First You Don't Succeed - #5 - 6 points - The purple one’s first #1 hit! 1984! Kazow!
  • Every Breath You TakeThe Police - Original - #8 - 2 points - Diddy apparently pays sting an undisclosed amount of $ per day for sampling this 1983 classic in 1997. “I’ll be missing you” was the cover. Twas a song written about Biggie. It’s also annoyingly hard to play on guitar unless your fingers can stretch.
  • Just Like SummerJD McPherson - Summer Starts - #2 - 10 points - I just love this song. He’s a true blue musician artist from the midwest. More people should know him.
  • Rock And Roll CreationSpinal Tap - Beginnings - #4 - 10 points - Twas a terrible big bang
  • BorderlineMadonna - Debut - #2 - 13 points - Hot outta the gates.

Hey DJ!

  • September - Recorded at The Tracking Room NashvilleTaylor Swift - Cover Me Badly - #8 - 4 points - For the taylor swift haters!! She’s just makin’ a classic great happy song, forgettable bad n sad here.
  • Freedom Of SpeechAbove The Law - $@#?! - #8 - 5 points - My crazy tomboy friend Sarah Richards played this in 6th grade social studies class assuring Mr. Berthal that it was clean, educational, and appropriate for class. He turned it off after we all heard the definition of “a radio cut”. This was on the pump up the volume soundtrack and christian slater aka harry hard on was running a pirate radio station out of his parents basement. He was tellin’ like it was. And became a clandestine hero at school….and a FCC target. And a gothy misfit chick’s love interest. Gwooooooaah. The 1st amendment….it’s crazy important.
  • Jump - 2015 RemasterVan Halen - The Big Ask - #5 - 8 points - It’s, I mean I’m obviously awesome from the beginning…and as you can tell, it’s…I mean us, er whatever, is only gonna get better baby. Ya might as well jump!
  • Eyes Without A FaceBilly Idol - Tongue Twists - #13 - 1 points - It took me many years to realize that the chorus female voice is singing “Les Yeux Sans Visage”. Eyes without a Face. It’s based on a 60’s French horror film about a plastic surgeon who is obsessed with recreating his daughter’s image after an accident. Nostalgia. The rap breakdown got put in there, “because it was the 80’s, everyone was doing it.”
  • Apex PredatorBarrett Wilbert Weed, Erika Henningsen - Guilty Pleasures - #2 - 10 points - My son got me into theatre. I have to / get to hear these songs every morning of my life. And now i like them.

Change of Pace

  • Stop!Jane's Addiction - Stop, Wait a Minute - #7 - 7 points - It lulls, and then takes off again for the solo! At the end, the music stops completely to highlight the vocals. Then, big finish! Been Caught Stealing was the hit on this album, but I always felt it didn’t belong with the other great moody vibe great songs. Stop! Kinda didn’t fit the album’s mood either.
  • AbracadabraLady Gaga - Better-than-Okay Boomer - #8 - 4 points - Gaga is still here
  • Love HurtsNazareth - Not Horny Enough - #9 - 3 points - Horny hurts
  • Careless WhisperGeorge Michael - Horn-y - #2 - 15 points
  • Call Me MaybeCarly Rae Jepsen - Old Enough! はじめてのおつかい - #6 - 8 points - “Before you came into my life, i missed you so bad.” That’s a great lyric. I’m calling it matured teen pop because even adults have this feeling. And let’s face, you’ve bopped your head to it. Categorically worthy!
  • Somebody That I Used To KnowGotye, Kimbra - Good Riddance but also I Need You Back - #4 - 12 points - Now and then, I think of when we were together Like when you said you felt so happy you could die Told myself that you were right for me But felt so lonely in your company But that was love, and it's an ache I still remember You can get addicted to a certain kinda sadness Like resignation to the end, always the end So when we found that we could not make sense Well, you said that we would still be friends But I'll admit that I was glad it was over But you didn't have to cut me off Make out like
